Enterprise Cybersecurity Intern
“This summer I got the opportunity to deep dive into the world of android development. One of the major projects I had this summer dealt with creating a new implementation of securing data while it goes through the Xfinity Authenticator Library. In this project I was able to touch deeply on the ideas of object oriented programming I’ve learned in many of my classes. This project consisted of me creating a separate implementation for an existing interface designed to control how data is secured throughout the Xfinity Authenticator Library. My project was designed to help aid the team transition from a legacy library they have been using previously into using a new library called Encrypted Shared Preferences that was recently released. To aid in this transition I needed to implement a feature flag that used dependency injection to inject the relevant implementation of secure storage based on the flag’s value.
I came into this internship knowing nothing about mobile development, but I left this internship with a deeper understanding of what it takes to deploy and maintain software used by millions of people. The Software Engineering class (CSC 415) did a really great job preparing me for this internship considering that it gave me exposure to learning a completely new language and learning how to effectively and efficiently utilize it. Overall I am really grateful for this opportunity and the support I’ve gotten up to this point in my college career.”
