An introduction to computing and object-oriented programming, with an emphasis on using computational methods to develop algorithms to solve scientific problems. Topics include control structures, data typing including structures and arrays, parameterized procedures, and recursion as well as simple I/O control.

Option for major/minor: This course may not be taken by computer science majors without permission of the department, and then only for free elective credit.
