Software Engineer Intern
“One of the projects I worked on focused on improving the accessibility of MLB.com’s headline stack for screen reader users. The headline stack contains news articles on the homepage, and MLB sought to make it easier for visually impaired users to navigate by improving element labeling. I implemented a flexible solution using React.js, passing a prop to the link component. This allowed for dynamic rendering of appropriate HTML tags, enhancing screen reader navigation while maintaining the component’s reusability across the site. The project required collaboration with our accessibility lead, in which we determined which HTML tags elements on the homepage should be. It felt surreal being able to work on a project for MLB, a major sports league! It was also really nice to participate in an agile development team, applying concepts we learned from our software engineering class at The College of New Jersey!”
